Seth Green picspam for [info]picspammy's "Five" Challenge

CHALLENGE 17 FIVES
My top 5 performances by Seth Green
Some adult content, a little blood and spoilers for all movies and shows. All screencaps by me apart from Buffy ones, which are handily already done @ Screencap Paradise

Seth Green is one of my all time favourite actors, he was one of my very first crushes and I have seen the vast majority of his films. This picspam is of my top five performances by Seth. Not necessarily my favourite characters portrayed by him, but more the way he portrayed them. For this reason I do not have any childhood performances (although it was difficult not to include his turn in My Stepmother Is An Alien) and I have also not included any of his work in Family Guy or Robot Chicken. To be honest, the main reason for this is I'd rather be picspamming Seth Green than a fat cartoon kid. Anyway, enjoy.

5) Douglas in Horror In The Attic/The Attic Expeditions (2001)

This movie is pretty bad. It has a shaky premise to begin with and seems to lose it's already half-arsed plot halfway though. However, this is good for me because I hate horror movies which means I can watch it without getting scared because it's a bit crap. Seth Green plays a patient in the mental hospital where the protagonist is staying. It later transpires that all the patients apart from the protagonist are in fact actors. This is where the plot gets a little fuzzy, Seth's character gets possessed by the protagonist's dead girlfriend and goes in a killing rampage. Yes, the movie is awful but Seth's portrayal of the character is spot on. You believe him as a mental patient and you believe him as an actor playing a mental patient. The script is so poor that even Seth cannot make me believe that he's been possessed by the poor guy's girlfriend.

It is possible to move a spoon without touching it. Proper exertion of willpower. It's a fact, it's established. So far I can't do it myself. I've been trying for 17 years.

Healthy paranoia, it's debatable like how far you should take it or how much you should talk about it. Now i'll point this out to you. You think about it however you want but you don't ever mention it again because when you talk about it you give it power, inside your mind. Do you follow me?

Straight up then. No-one that you ever knew, or you loved or that loved you or that you cared about or anyone that was ever anything to you that made you think that they might be as real as you are ever proved that the rest of us aren't all in it together against you. The big secret, I don;t care who you're thinking might be an exception. They aren't and you will never know. Now I might... I could tell you that all 6 billion of the rest of us are out to get you, it's far fetched for sure but the chances are just as good as any other illusion you ever needed.

Now I don't talk about it because when you talk about it you just make it worse. But I think about it a lot. And now so will you, because it's in you now and it has a mind and a will of it's own if any idea ever did and you won't ever forget it.

Oh, but don't blame me. Because you fucking asked for it.

It's funny, it doesn't really feel like they're really dying when you're not really the killer that you're being.

4) Scott Evil in Austin Powers (1999)

Okay, so probably not the biggest stretch acting-wise but Scott Evil was one of my first crushes as a kid. He had blue hair, that's just amazing, in fact at the tender age of twelve, I even wrote a song about him. That's how much I loved this character. Seth plays the straight man very well against Mike Myers' Doctor Evil and his sulky teenager cannot be beat. I haven't included the other two Austin Powers movies in the picspam because firstly I forgot and secondly I feel his appearance in this film adequately sums up his character.

I can't believe you'd do this to me on national television!

Scott: A trillion is more than a billion, numb-nuts.
Dr. Evil: All right. Zip it.
Scott: You... You can't even...
Dr. Evil: Zip it! Zip.
Scott: Look, all I'm....
Dr. Evil: Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, ex-zip-it A.
Scott: Number Two, would you please back me up?
Dr. Evil: Look! I'm "Zippy" Longstocking!
Scott: Ugh. I can't...
Dr. Evil: When a problem comes along, you must zip it! Zip it good!

Dr. Evil: You see, I've turned the moon into what I like to call a "Death Star".
[Scott snickers]
Dr. Evil: What?
Scott: Oh, nothing, Darth.
Dr. Evil: What did you call me?
Scott: Nothing.
Scott: [pretends to sneeze] Ripoff.
Dr. Evil: Bless you.

3) Daniel 'Oz' Osbourne in Buffy (1997)

Oz is still one of my all time favourite fictional charcters. He was the perfect boyfriend for Willow, cool, sweet, smart, gorgeous, a musician and of course a werewolf. I admit I did cry when he left Buffy and again when he came back for New Moon Rising. Oz is the reason for so many small things in my life from the amount of Animal Crackers I eat to my love of the colour purple. The character of Oz was such a perfect match for Willow and as the character I most identified with as a geeky girl in high school, that was something that made the character so special.

Oz: Oh, hey! Animal cracker?
Willow: thank you. How's your arm?
Oz: Suddenly painless.
-------
Oz: The monkey's the only cookie animal that gets to wear clothes, you know that? You have the sweetest smile I've ever seen. So, I'm wondering, do the other cookie animals feel sorta ripped? Like, is the hippo going, 'Hey, man, where are my pants? I have my hippo dignity!' And you know the monkey's just, 'I mock you with my monkey pants!' And there's a big coup in the zoo.

Willow: Well, I like you. You're nice and you're funny. And you don't smoke. Yeah, OK, werewolf. That's not all the time. I mean three days out of the month I'm not much fun to be around either
Oz: You are quite a human.
Willow: So I'd still if you'd still.
Oz: I'd still. I'd very still.
Willow: OK, no biting though.

I miss you... like, every second. It's like I lost an arm, or worse, a torso.

Oz: The wolf is inside me all the time, and I don't know where that line is anymore between me and it. And until I figure out what that means, I shouldn't be around you... or anybody.
-----
Willow: Oz, don't you love me?
Oz: My whole life, I've never loved anything else.

2) Kenny Fisher in Can't Hardly Wait (1998)

Kenny is a wonderful character, the kid in high school that is trying to be cool, but just isn't and if he were to actually just be himself he'd be a pretty cool guy. This film never fails to make me smile and it is mostly down to the preposterous things that Kenny says. But at the heart of the film, there is the very sweet story of the friends that have grown apart. And from listening to commentaries to Seth films (see Without A Paddle for example), I can see how easy it is for Seth to slip into this role.

Yo, I gotta have sex tonight! I mean peep this - They say here ninety-two percent of the honeys at UCLA are sexually active. Ninety-two of the women in Los Angeles at UCLA walking around going, "Class... or sex? What shall I do?" Ninety-two percent, yo!

Looks like someone's auditioning for Soul Train.

Kenny: 'Sup, ladies? Yo Jana, wanna dance?
Jana: I'm allergic.
Kenny: You're allergic to dancing?

Why y'all gotta waste my flava? Damn!

Kenny: You don't even know me anymore.
Denise: Yes, I do. I know exactly who you are. You're Kenny Fisher who used to... we used to play Miami Vice in my basement. You used to sleep over my house. You had to leave the hall light on every night. You're Kenny Fisher who used to buy me a card every Valentine's Day and a bag of those little hearts with the words on 'em. You're Kenny Fisher who got too cool to hang out with me in junior high because I was in all the smart classes and because my parents didn't make a lot of money and because you desperately needed to sit at the trendy table in the cafeteria.

It ain't your fault you lack the flavour.

1) James St. James in Party Monster (2003)

Party Monster is a fantastic departure from Seth's usual body of work. This was the film that brought McCauley Kulkin back to acting and it is a fabulous film in all senses of the word. Both Seth and McCauley play their characters to perfection, self absorbed young men in a world where they can do and wear wherever they want. Seth's James St. James, although constantly his asserting position as the original club kid is the more restrained of the two. The outfits are wonderful and the performances by all involved make you want to dress up in the most ridiculous outfits possible and just be fabulous.

Michael: I just want to be loved.
James: There isn't enough love in the whole wide world to satisfy you.

Michael: We're like two peas in a pod, you and I, James.
James: I pity the pod.

James: Michael, I hate when you make me say serious things, so I'm only going to say this once: You've gone too far with the drugs.
Michael Alig: Have you looked at yourself?
James: I'm not addicted to drugs, I'm addicted to glamour.

Interviewer: I can't believe you still talk to him.
James: Well, when was the last time you heard of a pea changing its pod?

I love Party Monster so much it owns me. I thought I was watching a movie starring MacKulk and when I saw it I was like, noooo, I'm watching a movie starring Seth, which also features MacKulk.

I saw James StJames on some show the other week and I genuinely sat there and went "BUT YOU'RE NOT HOT!"

eta: i think you mean scott evil ;)

I have seen that movie way too many times to count. James St. James was recently quoted on [info]ohnotheydidnt and the first image in my head is Seth Green before being hit with the ugly realism.

*ahem* uhm... yeah *changes quickly*

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. Love this post so much!!!!

Also, IDK why I have not seen Party Monster yet! I think it has been sitting on my external drive for like 8 months too! AUGH! MUST SEE IT RIGHT AWAY.

Seth Green, you glorious man, I want you inside me right now what would I do without your existence?

Also, true fact about Scott Evil being first crush - the ten-year-old me agrees. XD

Edit: FML, you got me saying Powers too. LOL!

You HAVE to see Party Monster. It is beautiful. WATCH IT RIGHT NOW!

I go through stages of fangirling him, but he's completely one of my all time favourite actors and I don;t think I will ever be able to lose my crush on him.

haha, oops, sorry.

This is so great! I haven't seen the film from #5 but I've seen all the rest and I love Seth in them. He's made some really terrible movies, but no matter what, I'll always love him!

Horror in the Attic is atrocious, you really don't want to have to sit through it. Seth it good in it though and I only paid £2 for it so I felt like I won.

You should try to seek it out. It's an incredibly good movie. And Seth is amazing in it.

If you haven't seen it, you must dig up a copy of Ticks. (It also goes by the alternative title Infested.) It's old school horror movie gold. Ans Seth is totally adorable in it. Oh! And the guy who played Carlton in Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is in it too! Bonus!

Some friends and I recently re-watched Can't Hardly Wait. We went on a Seth Green bender and watched Ticks afterward. Great picspam!

Ticks was one of the very first Seth Green movies I bought but I have never seen it because of my absolute wimpy nature and hatred of horror films. I might just have to take it off the shelf and work up the courage to watch it.

Hee, I'll always remember him as Scott Evil and Kenny "you lack the flava" Fisher. Great picspam!

February 6 2010, 20:07:37 UTC 2 years ago

"It ain't your fault you lack the flava" is one of those lines that you can't help repeating for days after finishing watching the movie. My boyfriend is getting a little annoyed with me by now due to this.

Thanks :D

Yes! Awesome spam! I love Seth Green to death, he's such an underrated actor. I think Oz, Kenny, and James are my three favorite roles of his (though I didn't like Party Monster at all; Seth was perfect, though). He's such a good serious actor, I wish he got to show it off more! Seth as Oz = ♥.

McCauley Culkin is brilliant in Party Monster too it's a really good movie, but a real departure for Seth on the films he normally does and it was the film that brought McCauley back into the acting fold.

Ohh my god.
I just found this community and almost died when I saw the Seth stuff.

Totally my favourite actor, had the hugest crush on him for the last 10 years. Sounds weird when I think about it like that. xDD

This was a good post! I agree with everything, although I quite liked his performance in Without A Paddle as well. ^^

But very nice~ James St. James was def his best!!
